She's Had Enough! by wraithdt She's Had Enough! by wraithdt
Hi guys! This is a new set of 12 artworks I did for the new Star Wars Essential Reader's Companion. Although the dateline for this book was a lot tighter it nevertheless was an enjoyable and rewarding experience.

As with the last book I will be posting them in the order of sequence as it appears in the Reader's Companion. Enjoy!

That's one way to end a squabble. This scene, from the book, Darksaber, is when Admiral Daala puts an end to the petty infighting amongst the Imperial Warlords after trying, unsuccessfully, to convince them to work together.

I had alot fun with this piece as it was chance to properly depict Warlords Teradoc, Harrsk and Delvardus. I've had a few people from Del Rey Publishing telling me that this its one of their favorite pieces from the Readers Companion and its one of mine too. :)

I'd at least take her with me before I die.

If I remember that book correctly, the fattest Imperial commander was the last to expire. Ah good times.

I love the looks on the guy's face who is closest to the frame. How he is biting his lip as he futilely tries to breathe, his eyes are bugging out of his head, and grabs onto another grand moff's uniform as he falls to his knees.

I can understand her frustration, even though it is much Ivan the Terrible.

"Admiral Daala what's your method of dealing with in-fighting within the empire's ranks?"

"Peaceful talks at a strip joint usually helps the men to come to a compromise... and if that fails  poison gas also puts the end to piety deputes. too."

Still I liked this pic.

"What's that?"
"It's a gas mask."
"Why do you put on a gas mask?"
"Because. Of. The. Gas."
"What gas?"

Can't blame her. Warlordism contributed more than anything else to the EMpires decline.

-sigh- Daala had it in her to be a great character before they made her in to cartoon fail villain.

I see Vader's style of laying off his employees outlived the man himself...
spike360 Featured By Owner Jun 24, 2013
I saw this in the Essential Reader's Companion, and it reminds me a lot of the old James Bond 007 film Goldfinger where Auric Goldfinger brings together several organized crime leaders and discusses his plans to destroy Fort Knox. He then proceeds to gas all of them in one stroke after explaining his plans. Good work!

Personally, I thought it was a good read, especially after that horrendous "Children of the Jedi" story.

And here they thought they were safe because she couldn't Force-choke them as Vader would have. They forgot about more mundane ways of choking. Silly Warlords.

Bravo, and must come from those who do not want to help the good of the empire!

both a great day for the Imperial Remnant and a great tragedy as well, though they may have been squabbling they were Imperials and many of them were able commanders and tacticians.
Neo-Byzantium Featured By Owner Jun 17, 2015
I agree. Despite their childish squabbling and personality flaws, the warlords were actually skilled and able military commanders plus as Daala said in the novel, they were still loyal to the Empire to an extent and wanted to take on the New Republic, they just couldn't agree who should lead the empire.

Harrsk for example said that he tired of the Imperial civil war, Teradoc taught Pellaeon quite a bit about military tactics and strategy while Devaldrus probably had a number of military successes under his belt and as he was dying, calmly decided to try and stab Daala to death with a makeshift knife rather then beg or run around like a scared rabbit.

Sadly, only the Emperor or someone with a large amount of credibility and power could've unified them and Daala simply lacked both even to get them to establish a council with a figurehead leader that could be overruled at times.
TheElevatedDeviant Featured By Owner Jan 28, 2013
I always hated Teradoc, Harrsk and Delvardus. Daala may've been a bitch, but at least she was a smart one.
SmyliArt Featured By Owner Jan 9, 2013  Hobbyist Writer
Well, thatīs another way to end conflicts... :P
halnarthax87 Featured By Owner Jan 8, 2013
I am shocked that Pellaeon didn't lose just a little faith in her sanity at this point... this was like something out of a Bond film. Wait... yeah, Goldfinger pretty much did just this, so yeah, that Daala is stone cold nuts.
Brilliant painting, pretty much captures exactly what I pictured.
Neo-Byzantium Featured By Owner Jun 17, 2015
Given the circumstances and how the warlords refused to focus on fighting the New Republic instead of each other and acted like a bunch of sociopathic grade schoolers, Daala had no choice and I suspect that Pellaeon understood this.
halnarthax87 Featured By Owner Mar 20, 2016
Heh, greater good and all that. I suppose.
Neo-Byzantium Featured By Owner Mar 20, 2016
Pretty much. She did it to ensure that the Empire had a future and wasn't destroyed by the selfish egos of a handful of men. Besides, in her mind, it was people like them that caused the collapse of the Empire after the Emperor was killed at Endor. If the remaining Imperials had put aside their differences and elected a nominal leader to lead them, the Empire would still have ruled the galaxy by that point which is why Daala hated the squabbling warlords for not doing this and eliminated them.
XizerTheGrey Featured By Owner Nov 22, 2012
Love it, that's my favorite scene from Darksaber and I'm glad the Deep Core Warlords finally have pics, only thing is Harrsk had Black hair not white in the novel.
