Calm Before the Storm by wraithdt Calm Before the Storm by wraithdt
Pardon me for not posting anything for some time now. I've been busy with work and wedding stuff but I finally had the motivation to do some personal work. Here's my latest one.

The usual medieval stuff with a slight twist. A sister knight of the Holy Roman Empire kneels focused and calm before an assault. She is holding a poleaxe, the favored weapon of foot knights of the 14th and 15th century. Not as glamorous as a sword but its versatile and lethal against other knights and armored opponents. Think can-opener.

Cheers!

Calm Before the Storm by *wraithdt The Suggester said: "The girl's expression in itself remind me exactly of how one feels just before facing a storm, a battle, a struggle. It's full of a strange peace, a confidence, as if she is determined she will do her best... and yet the very fact that she's kneeling makes it look as if she is still seeking something within herself. And ahhhh the way the light falls right on her... So symbolic." ( Suggested by Exillior and Featured by Atramina )

Well...the HRE prolly would'a used a Halberd instead, I think. Poleaxes were, to my knowledge, restricted to the British, not that there's too much of a difference between a Poleaxe and a Halberd.

As much as people try to forget this, there were female knights, and there were female warrior queens in the Middle Ages.

This is beyond gorgeous. Everything is so perfect, every detail, everything. :iconcryforeverplz: The colors and the anatomy are wonderful. On a whole it's really breathtaking especially her emotion. Holy shit, it's so fucking rare to see someone actually drawing female German characters. This is absolutely great, both the detail and overall mood. It's a fresh air from all that "celtic celtic celtic / viking viking viking" stuff everyone draws. Excellt work, bro. You're a bliss!

I like your medieval pics and that people in them have medieval equipment. It's a bit more realistic than those pics of ''medieval'' woman warriors running around in steel bikini (really they are fantasy, so let's call them fantasy, not medieval)...
Nice work otherwise too!

absolutely beautiful! the coloring and shading are perfection, and I love the effect of the wind blowing in the knight's hair as well as the shine in the armor. The grass looks quite unique too c: Overall a very beautiful, very symbolic, very elegant picture. Wonderful job!
